William Shatner Disses ‘Star Wars’ [VIDEO]

Doing his best to provoke an intergalactic geek fight, William Shatner unfavorably compared ‘Star Wars‘ to ‘Star Trek’ during an interview he posted to his YouTube page Thursday.

According to Shatner, ‘Star Trek’ was based on relationships and stories and philosophical questions, whereas ‘Star Wars’ was merely “special effects.” The original Captain Kirk also dismissed ‘Wars’ as being “derivative” of ‘Trek’ and argues that Princess Leia just wasn’t as hot as many of the lovely ladies who have graced screens big and small during in the various incarnations of ‘Trek.’

Of course this is Shatner speaking, so there’s good chance that he is not being entirely serious when he smacks down the iconic space franchise. Nevertheless, it’ll be interesting to see how the usually humorless George Lucas responds to this latest criticism (our guess? Kinda like this).
