The band Yes is synonymous with the term 'art rock'. Their catalog of music typifies the genre from front to back. And out on Tuesday, July 12th, is their first new release in over a decade: 'Fly From Here'.

As with many Yes albums, it is a concept piece. It reunites the band with Geoff Downes and Trevor Horn, who were behind the boards on the album '90125', their biggest seller.

Notably not on the album is original vocalist Jon Anderson. Jon suffered severe respiratory problems due to asthma in 2008 and was replaced by David Benoit, a vocalist in a Yes cover band.

Even though Anderson has worked through his health problems and is now able to perform again, the band chose not to bring him back into the lineup for the new album and forthcoming tour.

Jon doesn't seem overly upset. In a recent interview he stated that he feels blessed to have his health, and that hopefully the band can perform together again. He joked that if they get into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, it may happen then.

I've always enjoyed the intricate musicianship of Yes. Their arrangements are complex and epic in scope. I'm not sure where the new album will take them, but you can check it out for yourself because it's available July 12th. Yes kicks off its summer tour this Monday July 4th in New Jersey. Here is the official electronic press kit for the new album featuring just a small sample of a new song. The production is obviously going to be stellar:
