This is the 74th presentation of Texas’ oldest outdoor musical.  The Fort Griffin Fandangle is always the last 2 weekends in June and if you’ve never been you are missing a great time.  Although I’ve lived in Abilene all my life and had heard about the Fandangle, I had never attended until 2 years ago.  I was blown away it is a great performance with lots of local talent.  Fort Griffin is in Albany just 30 something miles from here and while it might be a bit of a drive it is well worth it, the show is fabulous and you can always stop in at the Beehive for cocktails or dinner before the show.

The show is a musical about the history of West Texas, it’s outdoors and there are horses, cows, Indians, cowboys, stage coaches, gun fights and lots of drama and humor.  Oh and singing too!

The cast of characters is made up of community residence that keep the history alive for everyone to enjoy. This is a great event for the whole family, kids love it as much as the adults because of all the live action.

To find out more about the musical’s history, the schedule and ticket prices see the Fandangle website or on Facebook.

Here’s a little taste of the production from a few years ago. As you will see in the video there are many cast members performing on this big outdoor stage. Again I encourage those who have never been to give it chance, you won’t be disappointed.
