Watch John Mellencamp Perform 'Troubled Man' on The Today Show

Rock and roll legend John Mellencamp released his 22nd album, 'Plain Spoken' earlier this week (9/23), and made his way onto NBC's 'The Today Show' to give us a taste of the new CD.

If you haven't followed Mellencamp since he was lobbing up hit song after hit song, you may be surprised with how his music has evolved. He admits, "It's not the kind of record you put on and want to work out to. I try to make records age-appropriate, and so I try to write about things that would interest people my age, and try not to write the typical rock things." But he is still John Mellencamp, and his ability to hit emotional nerves with his lyrics and soulful voice is uncanny.
