This City Tops the List for Rudest Drivers in Texas, According To Survey
When we think of Texas, we often picture landscapes that go on forever, delicious barbeque, and warm Southern hospitality. However, a recent survey has thrown a curveball into the mix. According to the survey's results, Abilene has been branded as having the rudest drivers in the entire state.
According to Insurify's survey, which included 513 cities across Texas, several factors were taken into account. These factors included failure-to-yield violations, failure-to-stop violations, improper backing, passing where prohibited, tailgating, street racing, hit-and-runs, and even shouting or making rude gestures.
It's a title that many Abilenians may find hard to accept. The city, as I've known it, has always been a more friendly, tight-knit community. So what's the deal with all the rude driving?
I think it's the growing amount of people in the Abilene area. Couple that with the road construction, and it can lead to next-level road frustrations. Others think it might just be a temporary phase. And then there are the blazing temperatures. Nothing will get you grumpy and in a bad mood faster than this extreme heat we've experienced in Texas.
Let's be clear. This survey doesn't reflect the behavior of every individual in Abilene. Many drivers on the road are courteous and patient, and abide by all the traffic laws.
However, maybe Abilene should consider some programs to help with courteous driving, whether it's awareness campaigns to improve roads or manage traffic more effectively.
Driving in Texas can be a challenge. We all have our destinations. The key is getting there in one piece. These surveys provide insight but it's up to us. Be kind to one another out there.
