Today (November 17th) marks the 31st anniversary of the release of 'Double Fantasy', which was to become John Lennon's final work during his lifetime.  The album was a definite rebirth for John after spending five years out of the limelight to raise his son Sean.

And it was a welcome return for fans.  Double Fantasy included some of the finest songs of his career including 'Watching The Wheels', 'Woman', 'Beautiful Boy', and  '(Just Like) Starting Over'.

At the time of its release, the reviews on the album were mixed, with several reviewers saying John had 'lost his edge' due to the songs being about domestic bliss and lighter topics.  Maybe.  But one listen to the track 'I'm Losing You' counters those reviewers.  The album was a reflection of a good time of life for John, and its success told the story of a triumphant return to music.  Check out the video for 'Watching the Wheels':
