The proposed 'Back Porch Of Texas' concert venue in Clyde, Texas will not go forward, at least not in its original planned location at Clyde lake.  The city leaders of Clyde have decided not to let construction move forward due to worries about temporary workers making the city liable if they are injured on Clyde property, along with sticking points on clean up and maintenance at the lake.

The decision apparently holds no animosity on either side.  Kevin Darby, an Abilene businessman involved in the project said that they ended on friendly terms with the city of Clyde, and plan to continue pursuing plans for 'The Back Porch' in another location.

Meanwhile, the upcoming concert event scheduled at Clyde lake, 'Wild West Fest' has been moved to Lytle Bend Ranch.  The show, scheduled for October21-22, will feature Asleep At The Wheel and Kevin Fowler among numerous other Texas music performers.  The organizers said that the Clyde lake site was probably unsuitable at this point due to recent heavy rains.

A spokesperson for a group of local Clyde citizens, 'Save Clyde Lake', indicated that they were relieved that the major venue was not happening.   The proposed construction was expected to cost over $2 million and be big enough to accommodate up to 40,000 concert goers.  (via reporternews.com)
