Red Dirt devotees of the late '90s early '00s will recognize Canada as part of Cross Canadian Ragweed, an Oklahoma outfit that fused various rock and country influences together to create what became known as the Red Dirt sound.
Canada himself counts rock outfits like Nirvana and Pearl Jam as major influences on his guitar playing and vibrant stage show, and country music legends like George Strait in helping pique his interest in music during childhood.
The band's overall sound and Canada's songwriting have since influenced other Texas Country/Red Dirt acts like Flatland Cavalry, Carson Jeffrey, and more.
After Cross Canadian Ragweed's split in 2010, Canada helped to form The Departed, alongside other longtime musicians within the TexasCountry/Red Dirt scene. They released their first original album, Adventus, in 2012.
Most recently, The Departed's 2018 album was aptly-titled 3, in reference to The Departed's three remaining members. You can listen to the single from that album, "Lipstick", below.
