The Hotel Galvez in Galveston
I love haunted locations where you can actually stay the night. The Hotel Galvez is such a place. The location has a long haunted history surrounding the heartbroken Lovelorn Lady who ended her life after hearing about the death of her fiance. Beware of the 5th floor. You may hear footsteps running down the hall and doors slamming during the night.
La Carafe Bar in Houston
It's said to be the oldest bar in Houston. La Carafe is located within the oldest commercial building which stems back to being a bakery in the 1860s. Reports include shattering bottles and children playing upstairs.
The Marfa Lights
I've seen these in person and from where I was standing...creepy. These mysterious ghost lights that move and change colors have been reported as early as the mid-1800s. Take the drive to Marfa and see if you can catch them.
The Ghost Town in Terlingua
A real honest-to-goodness ghost town in Texas? You better believe it. You'll find what's left of this town near Big Ben National Park. Now it's mostly remnants of old houses and abandoned shafts from when the mine closed toward the end of World War II.
The Driskill Hotel in Austin
Another haunted located where you can stay overnight. Sign me up. Spooky tales from this location include the death of a young girl chasing her ball over a ledge as well as suicides in room 525.
The Alamo in San Antonio
If you don't believe in ghosts, the ones here may make sure that you do. The Battle of the Alamo produced hundreds of casualties amping up the spiritual activity. Visitors and staff members alike report apparitions of soldiers roaming the grounds and that's just for starters.
USS Lexington in Corpus Christi
It doesn't need to be on land for it to be haunted in Texas. Visit this location and stay the night, hear ghost stories and even go on a scavenger hunt throughout the ship. This is a great place for those who scare easily. The ghosts here are said to be more mischievous than scary.
There's still time to hit some of these spots before Halloween comes and goes. So, grab the nearest skeptic and head out for some thrill-seeking.
