Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Pays for Texas High School Football Player’s Funeral
As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I have booed the Philadelphia Eagles many times in my life. However, one of the Eagles has some good karma coming their way in Texas.
Before He Was a Philadelphia Eagle, Jalen Hurts Was a Quarterback in Texas
Jalen Hurts first got attention as the quarterback of the Channelview Falcons. Throughout his high school career Hurts was rated as a four-star recruit and was ranked among the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the Class of 2016. He would go on to play for The University of Alabama and Oklahoma University before getting drafted by the Eagles in 2020. However, Jalen recently did something for an old high school football rival.
High School Football Player Shot and Killed Over Spring Break
Back on March 9th, senior Jarvon Coles was shot in a drive by shooting in Humble, Texas. Police are currently still investigating the shooting and sadly the family had a funeral for Jarvon just a few days ago. Now, Jarvon played for North Shore High School, which is a rival to Jalen Hurts Channelview High School. Rivalry was put aside and Jalen Hurts paid for the funeral of Jarvon Coles.
Nothing will be able to bring back Jarvon, but I am sure the family not having to deal with the stress of paying for a funeral is extremely grateful for the actions of Jalen Hurts. Although I will never stop hating the Eagles as a Cowboys fan, Jalen Hurts did get some of my respect today.
