The rumors were swirling yesterday about the possibility of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performing with George and John's sons Dhani Harrison and Julian Lennon at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Julian Lennon posted on Facebook last night (July 12th) that it is absolutely not going to happen, at least not with him as a participant. Julian's post reads, 'There will NEVER be a Beatles reunion, because two of the members of the band have since passed... And NO ONE could, or should try to replace them... End of....'

I guess that as they say, is that. As much as fans may want to see it, me included, I can see how difficult it would be to step into that role, even for one performance. And the fact that the role belongs to your father would compound the difficulty.

Still no word from Dhani Harrison or John's other son Sean Lennon as to whether either will be involved. My money now is on a Ringo and Paul performance with no other Beatles extended family represented on that stage. I'm sure there will be more info unfolding on the story.
