Lightning Strike Leaves Spectacular Mark on Wichita Falls Golf Course
Thunderstorms rolled through Texoma early Tuesday morning (5/17) bringing heavy rain, hail and plenty of lightning. Around 4:00 am, a large bolt of lightning struck the putting green on the 15th hole at The Champions Course at Weeks Park in Wichita Falls.
The lightning strike left a web of dark lines also known as a Lichtenberg figure. When the lightning struck the ground it looked for the path of least resistance sending branching electric discharges out across the grass surrounding the point struck.
Lichtenberg figures may also appear on the skin of a person struck by lightning.
