6 Rude Behaviors I’ve Encountered Grocery Shopping in Texas
We've all been there - the grocery store. Here in Abilene, like everywhere, they can get awfully crowded at times, and the behaviors you might encounter can boggle the mind. Almost all of us have witnessed some rude act at one time or another. I know I have. Maybe these folks are unaware of what they're doing. That's why I think it's time to bring these things to light.
Sometimes it's just crazy at the store. I get it. We all need to get in there and handle our shopping, but folks are testy before you even get inside. Here's what I mean. The battle in the parking lot can sometimes be plain brutal. Then, it happens. You see that coveted parking place right up front. As you approach, obvious that you're wanting the spot, it's sniped out from under you. Even if your blinker is on. That only spells one thing for me - rude. Unfortunately, things don't stop there. See if any of these get under your skin while shopping.
LOOK: 6 RUDE THINGS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED WHILE GROCERY SHOPPING IN ABILENE
1. Leaving the Checkout Line to Go Grab Another Item
Are you ready to check out or not? I've seen many continue their shopping close by while their cart holds their place in line. Not cool.
2. Blocking the Aisle With Your Cart
Oh my goodness, this one makes my blood boil. Do these folks realize that they're not the only ones in the store? If you want to chit-chat, that's great, just get out of everyone's way.
3. Cutting in Line
Really? Are we in 3rd grade? It happens to me way more than you'd think.
4. Allowing Kids to Misbehave
I understand. I'm a parent. I gave my mom all kinds of grief in the grocery store when I was a kid. However, allowing your kids to misbehave is a different ball game.
5. Playing the Express Lane Game
Here's another one that happens more times than it should. We've all seen the folks going through the express lane with more than the number of items allowed. It's called an express lane for a reason.
6. Helping Yourself to Your Food Before Paying for It
You never know what's going to go down at the grocery store. Tearing into that bag of chips before paying for them is just rude and might get you flagged.
Surely I'm not the only one who has had the above happen. Nowadays, times are changing with technology. Many stores now have apps that allow you to shop from the convenience of your device. With some, you can even opt to have your groceries delivered. From now on, that's going to be my plan to avoid rude behavior at the grocery store.
Unfortunately, these unkind acts happen in other places as well. Churches should be a place of prayer and reflection, but you'd be surprised how disrespectful some folks can be. Keep scrolling and you'll see what I mean.
