We haven't been able to say this for quite some time. All three major US automakers are making money.

Chrysler just reported on Monday (May 2nd) that the company earned $116 million in the first quarter of this year, on revenue of just over $13 billion. That marks the first profitable quarter for Chrysler since 2006.

It's also notable that this is the first time in over seven years that the Big Three - Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors - are ALL showing profitability. It's a definite good sign for the economy as a whole.

Some of what's fueling sales is the high price of gasoline. Owners are trading for gas efficient vehicles in droves at present, for that very good reason.

Hopefully we can gain some momentum as we finish up the second quarter of 2011. Kind of nice to see some good economic news every once in awhile! (via Sacramento Bee website at sacbee.com)
