Steve Perry wrote or co-wrote the majority of Journey's hit records. In fact, many fans take it for granted that he was a principal songwriter on all of the band's songs that either charted or received extensive radio airplay. But do you know the two big songs that Perry didn't write?

You might be surprised that Perry had no part in the songs 'Wheel In The Sky' and the monster hit 'Faithfully'.  His distinctive and powerful voice is all over the tracks, but he did not write music or lyrics.  'Wheel In The Sky' started out as a poem written by bassist Ross Valory's wife Diane.  It is credited to Neal Schon, Diane Valory and Robert Fleischman, and was written before Perry joined the band for the album 'Infinity'.   'Faithfully' was written by keyboardist and vocalist Jonathan Cain, even though it sounds like a very personal song about Steve Perry's wife.  He definitely can make a song his own.  So now you've got some useless trivia to share with your friends!  Check out a great live video for 'Wheel In The Sky':  (via songfacts.com)
