Here we are again, another week where we have way too many animals at the Abilene Animal Shelter. With all the heat and humidity around Abilene and the Big Country, these dogs have run out of time. They need a home now because the alternative does not look good. Furthermore, with most people going back to work a ton of dogs are being abandoned at the Abilene Animal Shelter.

LOOK: These Animals Need You Now

Justin Lelesch, the shelter's Director says "this past week alone, over 140 cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies were turned into the shelter." Justin went on to reveal that the shelter has had fewer adoptions. Which many adopters have since gone back to work at the office and are returning the pets they adopted during the Pandemic.

The Abilene Animal Services Shelter is way over capacity with mostly dogs and puppies. So, the Animal Shelter is in desperate need of responsible pet owners that can become forever homes for these awesome pets that just want someone to love and be loved.

For a limited time, all pets adopted get: flea and tick dipped, microchipped, all vaccinations, and spay or neuter vouchers. PLUS each pet will also come with four complimentary passes to the Abilene Zoo, more details here. If you can provide a loving home for any of these adorable fur babies, then all that is needed to adopt is to be 18 years of age or older.

Justin went on to say, "if you cannot adopt, you may want to "foster a pet" for a short period of time. The photos above are the actual dogs that need a home now! The Abilene Animal Services Shelter is at 925 South 25th. The Shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 11 AM until 2 PM and 3 PM - 6 PM. The shelter is not open on Sunday.
