Although it's not unusual for this time of year, this is the latest reported incident of somebody reserving a special place for themselves in the afterlife for committing the worst kind of theft.

Kennewick police again urge people NOT to leave anything of value in their vehicle, especially Christmas gifts, and ESPECIALLY leaving the vehicle unlocked.  Regardless of how long you're going to be away from it, even a few minutes, lock it.

Tuesday police reported a theft of numerous Christmas gifts, wrapped, from a car in the 1500 block of West 8th Street. IF there's a bright side, all but one of the gifts were later found tossed aside the road, apparently the thief only kept one of them.

But they had been torn open, no word on the condition of the gifts. Theft is wrong any time of the year, but stealing Christmas presents is like stealing from the Salvation Army Bill Ringer's kettle.  We get a little worked up over stuff like this, but we're sure there's a special 'place' for people who's conscience allows them to steal holiday gifts.

This one of several such incidents reported in the last few days.

LOCK YOUR CAR, and don't keep anything in there you're not willing to part with.
