JD Souther has written some big hits.  He was Linda Ronstadt's boyfriend all the way back in the late '60s and penned numerous songs that she recorded.  But he's perhaps best known for his association with the Eagles.

Souther co-wrote 'Best Of My Love', 'Victim Of Love', 'Heartache Tonight', 'New Kid In Town', and several more songs for arguably the world's biggest American band.  He can be heard singing background vocals on a lot of the records too, especially those of Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor.  JD Souther also had solo success with the song 'You're Only Lonely'.

After a lengthy hiatus from recording  Souther is back with a new album called 'Natural History' featuring some of his most well known songs, stripped down and played acoustically. He is also embarking on a tour this Summer.

Souther has a great voice, and although he has been a bit reclusive, he can definitely deliver his songs in a live setting.  Check out a video documenting the new album.   Looks like it will be a must for fans of the Eagles and that California country-rock sound:
