A rare promo copy of the Beatles single 'Love Me Do' sold at auction on Ebay for over $17,000.  The 45 rpm disc had a red 'A' and the words 'Not For Sale' above the Parlophone logo and was said to be in mint condition.  When it comes to vinyl records, rarity and condition are both vitally important.  To top it off, the single also had its original outer sleeve which was printed 'Top Pop Special Rush Copy'.  Only 250 of these singles were pressed. Due to that rarity and the fact that the vinyl and the sleeve were in pristine condition, the high bidder paid $17,339.31 to become its new owner.  Amazing.  Interestingly, the Beatles never performed 'Love Me Do' live in North America.  Check out this bluesy jam session on the song, featuring Billy Preston from 1969: (via ultimateclassicrock.com)
