A 7-year old boy in Orlando had to be rescued from a tree by firefighters after he climbed up a little too high.

Matthew Simmons said he was only 'a little scared' after climbing up over 40 feet off the ground.  He was high enough that the smaller tree branches actually began to give way under his weight!  Firefighters arrived with a hook and ladder truck to pluck Simmons from the tree top.

Matthew's mom admonished him saying, 'I don't think you'll be climbing trees any more, right?'  To which the boy replied, 'Sometimes'.   Hey, boys will be boys.

It's actually a surprising story because kids don't seem to get outdoors and unplug as much as they used to, with all the modern technology consuming their time.  Do you think kids need to get outdoors more?  I can see a lot of cases where they do.   How about climbing trees?  Do you let your kids do it?  Check out a video of Matthew below:  (via OrlandoSentinel.com)
