The Bronx Zoo and their now famous Egyptian Cobra have decided on a name for the elusive female after thousands of submissions from the public.

The cobra escape has been nothing but fantastic publicity for the zoo. The five finalists were revealed this past Tuesday, April 5th.

Those names were:

Cleopatra - Egypt's last pharoah who is said to have killed herself with a cobra bite.

Mia - To stand for 'missing in action'.

Subira - Egyptian word for 'patience'.

Amaunet - Ancient Egyptian goddess whose name means 'female hidden one'

Agnes - Greek for pure or holy.  Also for St. Agnes

After over 60,000 submissions, the winner is...Mia. Makes the most sense!
