In a story that some deemed a hoax, it seems that a 'cyclops' shark may have indeed been found off the coast of California over the summer. The shark was removed from the womb of an adult female, and scientists say it likely would not have survived in any case. The video below shows a few still pictures of this curiosity. Shark researchers say that the creature is extremely rare, but not entirely unheard of. They say that maybe 50 other instances have been recorded in history. Researchers did x-rays and examined the single eye, indicating that it is made of functional optical tissue. The shark was discovered in July.
