Are you thinking about getting your sweetie some roses for Valentine’s Day? Well… get ready to shell out some serious cash, because roses in Texas are officially big business.

Let me share a little secret: I buy my wife flowers when the flowers look good. No occasion, no pressure — just whenever something looks fresh. This way, I’m kind of off the hook on the holidays when prices spike. If you didn’t have the foresight to follow my plan this year, well… maybe this Valentine’s will be your lesson.

💐 Why Roses Cost a Fortune in Texas This Valentine’s Day

According to FinanceBuzz, the cost of a dozen roses by state is brutal — and the news for Texas is NOT GOOD. Texas ranks as the third most expensive state in the country, with a projected cost of $113.33 for a dozen roses. I’m assuming this is the “delivered in a vase by a dude dressed like Cupid” price point, but still… yikes.

Even worse, Texas is actually tied with Kansas at $113.33, but somehow we’re still listed below them. So in practical terms:
The only place in America where you’ll pay more for roses is Hawaii.

If you Google “Why are roses so expensive in Texas?”, the generic answer is “import and supply chain costs.” That feels like a non-answer, because you’d think most states deal with the same supply chain. But here we are — paying almost island prices without getting the island.

At this point, your best option is to make friends with a local flower shop or take your chances assembling something yourself. And listen… no matter what anyone tells you, get her something for Valentine’s Day. If it’s something she can open in front of — or display in front of — her friends?
You just scored double points.

Most women aren’t shallow enough to punish you if you don’t do it…
but they absolutely double love you when you do.
