I think most of us look for famous eateries when traveling. If a town has a famous restaurant, most of us are most likely to stop and try it out. I also think that deep down inside each one of us is some kind of foodie. If you are like me, I like to try to take in the cuisine of the area that I am in. I want to experience their culture.
According to Only In Our State, here are the 10 restaurants that every Texas should try!
1. Blue Bonnet Cafe In Marble Falls
The Blue Bonnet Cafe has been open since 1929. They serve breakfast all day. They also serve sandwiches, homemade soups, hand-breaded chicken fried steak, and pot roast.

2. Gaido's in Galveston
Located on the Sea Wall, Gaido's opened it's doors in 1911 and have been going strong ever since. They are known for their seafood.
3. Mary's Cafe in Strawn
You may have never even heard of Strawn, Texas, but it is close to Ranger and Mingus. Mary's cafe is known for it's Texas sized burgers and home made chick fried steak.
4. Saltlick Smokehouse in Driftwood
This Texas classic is located outside Austin in Driftwood. Saltlick serves Texas style BBQ in an all you can eat kind of way.
5. Franklin's BBQ in Austin
Aaron and Stacy Franklin opened Franklin's BBQ because they liked throwing bbq's for friends. Franklin's is known for their mouth watering brisket. Aaron Franklin is also the co-author of New York Times bestselling book, Franklin Barbecue, A Meat-Smoking Manifesto and Franklin Steak. He was inducted into the American Royal Barbecue Hall of Fame in 2020.
6. The Big Texan In Amarillo
The Big Texan is located on the historic Route 66 highway and is known for it's 72 oz steak challenge. If you can eat the entire steak and all the sides in less than one hour, its free.
7. The Pickett House in Woodville
The Pickett house is located not too far from Beautmont in the small town of Woodville. My family that live in Beaumont love this place. What's uniqu about The Pickett House is they serve their food family style or boarding house style. This is where you sit at the table and food is brought out to you in serving dishes and you pass it around the table. They are known for their fried chicken and chicken and dumplings.
