As with many of you, I was born and raised in Texas. I wouldn't have it any other way. Although my job has taken me to other states, I moved back as quickly as I could. There's just no other place that quite has the swagger and feels that Texas does. There are a bunch of reasons to stay put right here in the Lone Star State. The lifestyle does it for me. Wide-open spaces with plenty to see and explore. The people are down-home and the food is delicious.

However, the state is not for everybody. People move in and out of Texas every day. I can certainly see the draw but I was curious to find out folks' major reasons for leaving Texas. United Van Lines does a study every year on the inbound and outbound moves. Read ahead as we take a look at the top five reasons why people are leaving Texas, according to United Van Lines.

Cost of Living

I get it. Living isn't cheap. However, only a small amount of outbound traffic is due to cost.

Lifestyle

Sometimes the Texas lifestyle just isn't for everybody.

Retiring in Texas would be just fine with me. However, other folks may want that change of scenery and climate.

I can certainly understand why the percentage is higher here. Family is important and sometimes you just have to be close.

Indeed, employment is huge. This is the number one reason folks move out of Texas.

Is the top reason what you thought it was? Health was the only remaining category with 5.10% of people claiming it was the reason for their move.
