Do you like to personalize your vehicle with vanity plates? It's actually only $150 per year to score yourself some cool vanity plates in Texas. It's not something I've ever thought about spending extra cash on, but they are pretty popular out on the roads.

You may have a clever vanity plate in mind for the future, but it's important to know that you can't get away with just anything you want at the DMV. For starters, your plates have to be 6 characters long. They also have to be approved, which might keep you from ever using whatever funny idea you've got.

You also won't be able to get away with anything that references race, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity. It doesn't matter if it's derogatory or not. It's just not allowed, and that's probably for the best. They also will not allow any vanity plates that reference illegal activity, law enforcement agencies, drugs, or government entities, and that kind of sucks the fun out of everything, doesn't it? Ha.
