Legendary blues man Hubert Sumlin died yesterday (December 4th) at the age of 80 due to heart failure.  Sumlin was part of Howlin' Wolf's band, playing lead guitar for him and then continuing on as band leader after Wolf died in 1976.  Sumlin was one of an increasingly small number of original Delta and Chicago blues pioneers.

There are not many of the godfathers of blues still among the living. And now the last known surviving, original Delta bluesman David 'Honeyboy' Edwards is gone at the age of 96. 'Honeyboy' got his nickname from his sister, who alerted his mother when he stumbled as a toddler to 'look at honey boy'. He carried the name through life and his career.
