Chubby Checker really should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...and he knows it. In fact, he's DEMANDING it...while he's still young enough to use it to make more money.

That's "young" in the RELATIVE sense. He's 72 right now.

Last week, he was at the Songwriters Hall of Fame event and told a reporter, quote, "I don't want to get in [the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame] when I'm 85 years old.  I'll tell them to drop dead, so you better do it quick while I'm still smiling."

"If you put me in when I'm too old to make a living, then it's no good for me to be in there."

Chubby is most famous for "The Twist", which became a #1 hit in 1960.  And he had the first-ever rock and roll song to win a Grammy...with his follow-up song "Let's Twist Again" in 1962.
