Jon Bon Jovi’s Father and Brother Start Saucy New Business
It looks like rock ‘n’ roll isn’t the only business in the Bon Jovi blood. Jon Bon Jovi’s father, John Sr. and brother Matthew Bongiovi [the proper spelling of the family name] have teamed up to market Bongiovi Pasta Sauce, allegedly from a family recipe going back generations.
According to the official website, the recipe originated in the town of Sciacca, Sicily in the late 1800s, when Great Grandma Bongiovi would prepare enough to feed the neighborhood. In recent years the family have yielded to what they claim have been repeated requests from “friends, neighbors and even celebrities” to bottle the sauce, but were concerned they couldn’t get the homemade taste in a mass-produced version. But of course, they somehow managed it, and the results are now available online or at select retailers for the low, low price of $24 for a three-pack. The sauce comes in three flavors; marinara, garden style and arrabbiata.
Not to be outdone, Jon Bon Jovi is starting a new side business of his own. He makes his live solo debut with the Kings of Suburbia tonight (July 26) at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino at 8 PM. The singer has announced no further plans for more solo dates. Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora will release his third solo album, ‘Aftermath of the Lowdown,’ on Sept. 18.
