These 8 Menacing Movies Will Get You Creeped Out For Halloween
I absolutely love this time of year. I go crazy for the month of October, as well as Halloween. What's not to love? First, the cooler weather feels great after the brutal summer. Football is in full swing. The holidays are coming, and the first one to get us warmed up is Halloween.
Sure, the fall festivals are awesome. The carnivals, trunk-or-treats, and all the parties are fun . But the thing that really adds to the season for me is the horror movie genre. Not just any flick will do. They have to be the classics. You know, the ones we originally saw at the drive-in movies or midnight showings in a pitch-black theater. Now that's what I'm talking about.
If you're a true lover of Halloween and really want to get in the mood, keep scrolling. But beware, these could cause some major creep-outs and nightmares.
LOOK: 8 GREAT MOVIES TO GET YOU IN A CREEPY MOOD FOR HALLOWEEN
The Shining
"Here's Johnny!" Such a classic line. A definitive film not only for Jack Nicholson but also Stephen King.
The Omen
Talk about the sheer evil that opens up on a family - this is it.
The Amityville Horror
Anytime a horror story is based on true happenings, it can feel extra creepy. This film is based on the DeFeo family murders.
Motel Hell
Alright, so I had to have one low-budget B-movie on the list, but this one will make your skin crawl.
The Changeling
Ok, I'll admit it. This one got me good growing up. I still have a fear of wells. George C. Scott is amazing.
The Exorcist
This film changed America not only in the way of horror movies but how exorcisms are viewed.
Poltergeist
If I was stranded on a deserted island with only three horror movies to watch, this would be one of them. Poltergeist's "Noisey Ghosts" are often unseen and that's just spooky.
The Silence of the Lambs
What can be said about this one? Amazing. It's a must-watch if you have never seen it.
You really didn't think I'd leave off the movie for Halloween. The birth of Michael Myers started here.
We all have our favorite horror movies that get us in the mood for Halloween. But if you've not seen any of the above, trust me when I tell you, these could be new favorites for some.
